Write for yPolitics

yPolitics is always recruiting new writers, find out more and apply below.

We are trying to build the best student journalism platform in the UK, that means we are doing things differently.

University newspapers and student journalism platforms that have come before have left so much to be desired for writers. They had limited reach, were clunky and slow for writers and often offered nothing more than a website.

We are building something different. We offer students the national platform they deserve, backed up by a strong editorial team that can facilitate quick turn arounds in a 24/7 news cycle. Plus you don't just have to just write, you can volunteer on our school outreach programme, take up another role, attend our events and more!

Most importantly, yPolitics gives you freedom as a writer. Freedom to write what you want, when you want, how you want to. We know that the journalists of the future aren't going to be made through restrictive guidelines, so we let you go about things your way. You can write in whatever form you want, from normal news articles, to newsletters or long form investigative pieces, there is something for everyone on yPolitics.

yPolitics as a company is non-partisan; we don't have any political affiliations, but that doesn't mean you can't. We facilitate a whole spectrum of ideas, something that we believe is vital. Please read our full editorial policy here.

Role:

  1. Contribute 2 articles a month (or more!)
  2. Write about what you want, and write it how you want to
  3. Make the most of a quick and easy submission process
  4. Have your writing read by an audience of thousands across the country

We offer lots of flexibility around university deadlines and exams.

Eligibility

  1. Current university student (in some instances we will accept recent grads or students pre-university so definitely still apply!)
  2. Strong writing skills
  3. Passion for politics and it's related fields
  4. Great communication skills
